Children all across the country are falling in love with the “edu-tainment” features of www.clevercrazes.com. The avatars are created from real kids, so they’re very relatable. Children can select any of seven avatars – representing different ethnicities and special needs – to help them navigate through the information and educational challenges. And, the competitive games allow children to compete with one another to earn prizes for their schools.
Students who earn the highest score during each bi-monthly segment will be offered a chance to become guest avatars on www.clevercrazes.com. Guest avatars are featured, prominently, on the home page, and a brief bio is created to share more about why the student enjoys CCK. Plus, students love to see themselves as animated characters.
The site will be updated regularly to ensure that content remains fresh, relevant and enjoyable.
It’s Educational!
CCK reinforces many language arts, physical education and STEM-based (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) academic standards that students must meet in order to advance to higher grade levels. Specifically, CCK helps students:
- Practice reading comprehension and answer literal, inferential and evaluative questions to show understanding about what is read or presented.
- Learn the meanings of unfamiliar, scientific terms.
- Examine and understand information in charts, tables, graphs and diagrams.
- Understand that food is a basic need and an important source of energy.
- Explore that some materials can be used over and over again (recycling).
- Identify materials that can be saved for community recycling.
- Investigate the positive and negative impacts of human activity and technology on the environment.
- Explain how decisions about the use of products can result in desirable or undesirable environmental consequences.
- Demonstrate competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities.
- Value physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression and/or social interaction
